Trent Cooksley
Qualifications: Undergraduate: Bachelor of Science: Exercise science and human performance (McMurry University, Texas) 2021
Postgraduate: Master of Physiotherapy (USYD) 2023
I was born and raised in Wollongong and played several sports growing up including soccer for Woonona Sharks, tennis, golf, swimming, school footy, cricket, and AFL, eventually sticking to golf as my main sport when I was 13. I was a part of the IAS golf program during my last year of high school. Golf then also led me to gain a scholarship to go play golf and study at a university in the USA in a little town called Abilene in Texas. Picking up a couple of injuries there and getting treated by my athletic trainer, led me down my current path as a physiotherapist.
On returning home in 2021 I got accepted into the Masters of Physiotherapy program at USYD which I completed in 2023. My main interests are musculoskeletal physio, and sports physio (kids to adults) – a soft spot for golfers, and acute injury management.
You can catch me on the golf course, in the surf, or having a drink with mates when I’m not at work.
